Why get family photos done every year? - Tampa Family Photography

The Kilmer Family gets their family portraits done with me every year. Mom messaged me inquiring about a session years ago when they were just a party of three. Sadie was the baby at the time and when we showed up to the session they surprised me with the news of another one on the way!!! I remember how exciting it was because we also used the opportunity to create a photo to announce that they were expecting.

The following session, the party of three had grown to a party of four. The dynamic has changed because now we can capture not only love between parents and child but sibling love and well. It’s so incredibly beautiful to watch and record in the form of photos.

As a photographer, it’s nearly impossible to keep my feelings at bay when I work with these gorgeous children. We have a little bond going on. So much so that little Miss got a small camera of her own and mimics me by posing her dad and taking photos of him.

LOOK at these two. Aren’t they the most beautiful kids you’ve ever seen? I hope to stay in their lives for as long as I can to capture how they grow and to witness their relationship as siblings become closer and closer.

This time around I wanted to photograph the love between mom and dad. Being parents and working full time takes a lot of work but love is always there.

So going back to the question, why get family photos done every year? A lot changes within a year. We get new additions to the family, we get older, our relationships grow closer and these are memories we don't want to forget. The Kilmer family makes it a point to print out their photos and they display them in their home where the kids can clearly see them on a daily basis. Studies have shown that when children constantly see photos of themselves and their family, it builds confidence in them knowing that they are loved and belong. Everyone is born wanting to be a part of a safe and loving family. Printed photographs send that message. That’s the power of photography if you ask me.
